Request for Proposals: Experience Princeton Seeks Social Media Manager

Experience Princeton (experienceprinceton.org) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a local part-time contracted Social Media Manager with knowledge of Princeton, New Jersey, to lead and execute our digital engagement strategy. The selected contractor will oversee daily social media operations, content creation, audience engagement, and reporting, working closely with the Executive Director, creative agency, and marketing committee representative to enhance, expand, and amplify the organization’s visibility, storytelling, and community impact.

Location / Position Type

This is a hybrid position that requires some in-person meetings in Princeton, attendance for live coverage at local events and activations, ribbon-cutting celebrations, content collection and curation (interviewing business owners), and other (to be discussed). Attendance is required at monthly Marketing Meetings via Zoom.

Scope of Work and Deliverables

Social Media Strategy and Management

● Develop and implement a monthly content calendar across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and launch new TikTok)
● Schedule, post, and manage a consistent stream of original and shared content via 5-6 posts/week
● Create thematic campaigns for town-wide events such as Princeton Restaurant Week, Princeton Semiquincentennial Celebrations, Shop Local, National Small Business Month/Week, as well as round-up content for resources for birthday party locations, brunch spots, gift shops, nightlife, etc.

● Maintain a consistent tone and visual identity aligned with the Experience Princeton brand
● Follower cultivation and engagement through comments, messages, and tags

Content Creation and Execution

● Capture photos and videos of events, businesses, and locations in Princeton
● Design graphics and write captions for posts, reels, videos, and stories
● Coordinate cross-promotional content with local businesses, partners, and events
● Film and edit short-form video for Reels and Stories (Canva, CapCut, etc.)
● Create and optimize paid ad campaigns
● Proactively reach out to local influencers, content creators, and community organizations for content collaborations

Analytics and Reporting

● Follower cultivation and engagement through comments, messages, and tags
● Track and analyze performance metrics monthly (engagement, reach, follower growth)
● Provide quarterly reports with insights and suggestions for optimization
● Monitor trends and adjust content to align with best practices and seasonal engagement

Budget

The maximum base contract is $30,000 annually.

Optional Add-Ons: Candidates may propose up to two optional service add-ons, each with a maximum budget of $5,000. These would be services outside the base scope that would enhance the overall work. If proposing optional add-ons, include:

● A brief description of each proposed add-on
● Its purpose or benefit
● The additional cost associated (up to $5,000 per add-on)

This is a part-time, independent contractor role, paid monthly, and is not benefits-eligible.

Qualifications and Experience

● Demonstrated experience managing social media for brands or organizations
● Excellent writing, visual storytelling, and photo/video editing skills
● Strong grasp of platform analytics and audience engagement best practices
● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

● Experience in marketing for tourism, hospitality, shopping centers, Special Improvement Districts, Main Streets, and/or Chamber of Commerce is a plus

● This is a local position. Familiarity with the Princeton community and the ability to be boots on the ground to attend in-person obligations is a must

● Direct links to examples of past social media work on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn (digital portfolio is welcome)
● A total cost proposal for the base contract and optional add-ons

Experience Princeton is a nonprofit organization established in 2022 as the Princeton Business Partnership, Inc., a Special Improvement District (SID) dedicated to strengthening and promoting all of Princeton, New Jersey, through placemaking, marketing and economic development. Experience Princeton serves a wide and varied geographic area that includes large shopping centers and small boutiques, hotels and conference centers, unique residential neighborhoods, historic sites and cultural landmarks, major roadways, quiet backstreets and, of course, one of the world’s most prestigious and beautiful universities.


The Special Improvement District encompasses over 270 properties and 850 businesses in nine “sub-areas” throughout Princeton.
